Dharmadeshana Mala 13 - launch on Monday
Dharmadeshana Mala No. 13, a publication of the Associated Newspapers
of Ceylon Limited will be launched on Monday.
This is a collection of Sinhala and English Buddhist articles written
by veteran priests. A special article about Dambadiva Buddhist Holy
Places with pictures is included in this book.
Dinamina co-ordinating Editor and former Editor of Budusarana, Ruwan
Araththanage is the editor of Dharmadeshana Mala. It is a publication of
the Lake House Market Research and Annual Publication Department.
This book will be sold at a discounted price of Rs. 100 at the Deyata
Kirula Exhibition, BMICH Lake House Book Stall.
Appointments to Moulavies, Hafeels
Akkaraipattu Manbaul-Khairath Arabic College will confer appointments
to new Moulavies and Hafeels at a convocation ceremony today at 9.30
a.m. at Akkaraipattu 'Athaulla Arangam'.
Water Supply and Drainage, Minister and National Congress Leader A.
L. M. Athaullah will participate as the chief guest at this Convocation
which will be presided by Chairman of the Board of Governors A.
Umarlebbe.
The Convocation address will be delivered by Dean of the Faculty of
Islamic Studies and the Faculty of Arabic Studies of the South Eastern
University of Sri Lanka Moulavi M. S. M. Jalaldeen.
Certificate Presentation
The distribution of certificates and awards of the Sinhala and Tamil
medium essay competition held in connection with Universal Children's
Day in association with Janasetha Children's Societies of Pathadumbara
Predeshiya Sabha's libraries will be held on Monday at Thalathuoya
Central College.
Public Enterprises Minister Dr. Sarath Amunugama and Local Government
and Pradeshiya Sabha Minister Janaka Bandara Tennekoon will participate.
This event sponsored by the Kandy branch of the State Mortgage and
Investment Bank.
Ceremonies for Independence Day
Religious ceremonies, shramadana campaigns and drama competitions
will be held on Monday at Godapitiya Raja Maha Viharaya, Akuressa to
mark the 60th Independence commemoration Day.
This is organised by Grama Niladari Gamini Gamanayake in
collaboration with Aturaliya Divisional Secretariat and Akuressa Range
Forest Office.
Kumbuk tree planting along Nilwala river basin and preliminary work
on a herbal garden at the Raja Maha Viharaya premises will also be held
on the same day.
A drama competition will be held with the participation of Elders'
societies.
A special Bodhi pooja to bless the country, nation and the Armed
Forces will also be held at the Raja Maha Viharaya.
Road temporarily closed

The zone between the cemetery-roundabout end and signal-light
junction at Malalasekara Mawatha along Bauddaloka Mawatha will be closed
temporary for public transport from 6 pm today to February 11.
This is due to security arrangements for the Deyata Kirula exhibition
which will commence on Monday, the Police Headquarters said.
Residents from the cemetery roundabout are requested to use Sarana
Mawatha and Wijerama Mawatha.
