APRC proposals

I went through all the proposals of the APRC. I fully support your proposals and the same time defeating the LTTE terrorists in the North by militarily. Good timing for proposals, we need to give Tamils' demands in North and East.

We should give these to Tamils and other people living in the North, not to the LTTE. The LTTE has to be defeated militarily.

The JVP is always against any proposals like the LTTE.

Send a few of those JVP guys (MPs) by State money to the USA and to show them how power is divided in US States.

They are Sinhala extremists with nice talks to fool people in Sri Lanka. The UNP is power hungry. We, as Sinhalese have to give something to the Tamils and Muslims living in the North and the East.

By these proposals, we could win the international community more. Get help from India also if you need it.

They created this problem but it's okay. One day our country will come to much better position than India once this problem is over. Dear President, please go for these solutions.

I fully support your bold decision.

I do not belong to any political party in Sri Lanka because I do not believe in any party. I see the right and wrong. Please go for a political solution while defeating the LTTE militarily.

Do not wait till the LTTE is defeated.

The Tamil and Muslim people deserve a political solution whether the LTTE exists or not. Do not listen to the JVP about these proposals. Mr. President, go for your ideas and give a solution to the ethnic problem.

You're going in the right direction.

Then this problem will not burden the next generation. We will always support your political solution.

Live as we are expected to

Man was created way above all other God's creations blessed with the faculty to think and reason, and to distinguish right from wrong, and truth from falsehood, is today wallowing in the quagmire of corruption and wanton destruction.

Why is this so? He who should know what our creator Allah (SWT) expects of us, to live in accordance, and obedience to his commands, has today drifted away from Islam.

Islam means peace and compassion towards fellow beings. However, is this what is happening? Corruption and dishonesty seem to be the order of the day. Man has deviated from the path of righteousness and is sliding down the path to anarchy. Man who should be leading an exemplary life, in keeping with Islam, has veered away from Islam.

Islam is a way of life, a practical religion and a guidance to man. what is it that lures man away from the path of truth and righteousness. Life in this world is transitional and the stepping stone to the next world, and the hereafter. We come to this world, and depart the same way.

Allah has laid down how man conducts himself in this life in keeping with the Quran and Sunnah. We are answerable for our every action. Today the world over, there is much that lures man away from the righteous path.

Allah is oft forgiving and merciful, but man in his quest for all he yearns, does not realise where he is heading to. Everything in this world was created for man. Has he realised this and strives to live in keeping with Allah's commands?

We are seeing today, to what levels man has deviated from the path of truth and righteousness. Many are the pitfalls in his path, and it is his duty to his creator, that he strives to bring about what Allah (SWT) his creator and sustainer has decreed for him.

The life in the hereafter is the everlasting life, that man has to strive for, if he hopes to enter Jannah. But man is carried away by the false values of this world.

If man deviates from Islam, it is he who stands to loose. Islam forbids free mingling of sexes, that results in illicit relationships that brings about incurable disease. If man and woman resort to such relationship, there is no cure for this.

When everything has been created for man and his well-being, Man has to abide by Allah's commands and laws laid down for his well-being. nothing is beyond him, if only he strives for this.

There is a code of conduct for both man and woman, that they abide by to bring about better relationships between them.

Man is created with lust, as such, he has to live in accordance with Quran and Sunnah. He has to create a family, whereby he has to enhance and increase the population. Man believes he can live in this world in accordance with his wishes. Marriage and procreation have to be in keeping with his way of life, according to his wishes.

But is this so, and can it be so? What Allah has decreed can never be revoked. Our needs and everyone's needs are as Allah has ordained for us, can never be increased or decreased.

We depart from this world in keeping with Allah's time not a minute earlier nor later. We have to increase our Taqwa, and put our trust in him our creator and sustainer. The trust we place in him is for our well-being. Let's remind ourselves of our duties and obligations to each other and not live as we want, nor isolate ourselves. It is incumbent on us think and contemplate on why we are here, and our purpose in life.

GMR - Put rail tracks in order first

The GMR proudly announced recently that with the arrival of 100 new carriages from China, the railway service will greatly improve.

What has happened to the railways during the last few days with almost a derailment or a railway accident per day will prove his statement wrong.

The GMR for some unknown reason hurriedly ordered hundred railway compartments from China. He also goes on record to say that the railway does not have sufficient funds to maintain the railway tracks.

What any sensible person would have done was to first put the tracks in order with whatever funds or loans that were available, rather than jump and order carriages from China.

I wonder if he has heard the saying putting the carriage before the horse!

I hope sane counsel will prevail in the railway.

Why were we deprived of difficult area allowances?

All the teachers who serve in very remote Government schools in the Bingiriya Educational Division of the Kuliyapitiya Educational Zone are now being paid a difficult area allowance by the Ministry of Education.

Ministry of Education has categorised schools as convenient, very remote and difficult area schools. According to these categorisation, teachers who work in very remote and difficult areas qualify to receive incentives from the Government.

Since all teachers who work in very remote schools in the Bingiriya Educational Division enjoy these incentives, while teachers who work in difficult area schools are deprived of these incentives for nearly one and half years.

These teachers too undergo much inconvenience such as lack of travelling facilities and pure drinking water. These teachers too render their services with dedication in spite of all difficulties that they encounter in discharging their duties and responsibilities in these schools.

Therefore, we, the teachers who work in difficult area schools in the Bingiriya Educational Division respectfully appeal to the Minister of Education Susil Premajayanth to look into our plight early and resume the payment of difficult area allowances.
