Tourism to generate Rs. 550 m in 2008
Sri Lanka hopes to generate Rs. 550 million from
the Tourism industry this year. This is an increase of over Rs. 100
million over the previous year. Director General Sri Lanka Tourism,
Dileep Mudadeniya said they are expecting over 600,000 arrivals and
January has already witnessed an increase. The year 2007 saw
arrivals of around 500, 000 tourists and a revenue generation in the
excess of Rs. 400 million.

Institutional, foreign buyers active in market
The Colombo Stock Exchange was active as most of
the companies' interim results and final results indicated were
positive note, its sources said. With the releasing of corporate
interim results buying trends of foreign and local institutional
buyers increased during the day with both indices going up. The All
Share Price Index went up by 12.58 points and the Milanka Index went
up by 26.19 points.

NCCSL to organise Vietnam trade delegation
The National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka
and the Sri Lankan Embassy in Vietnam has arranged to send a Sri
Lankan business delegation to Ho Chi Minh and Hanoi concurrent to
the Vietnam Expo 2008 in April.
