PCH to design duel powered computer

PC House (PCH) Sri Lanka’s first company to introduce locally manufactured computers to both the local and international market is to design a low cost desktop computer this year.

P C House Chairman, S. H. M. Rishan said that this low cost computer is to be powered by an alternative power source making it usable in areas where there is no electricity. He said that one main problem halting the penetrating of computers is the lack of power.

“This is why we decided to explore the possibility of an alternative power source and we have been successful in crossing that barrier,” he said.

He said that this new breakthrough computer would be marketed under the brand name Panora.

The local ownership of Desktop computers is around 3 percent and this is not enough. The main reason for this is the high price of a computer. “We hope to market it initially for around Rs. 20, 000 which would be the cheapest for a brand new computer in the market,” he said.

The company has finalised the designing process and production would be launched by the end of the year. “This computer would be some thing in between a laptop and a desktop computer,” he said.

Rishan said that they are also aggressively looking at exporting local software solutions to the European market. “We are already in this business and are working for banks, financial institutions pay roles,” he said.

To enter the European market more aggressively the company needs more trained staff. “This is why PC House acquired local software solution providers. We are currently looking at 10 more similar acquiescing this year,” he said.

The advantage in these acquiescence is that they can utilise the existing trained staff to carry out their European operations,” he said. He said that the Panora computer is also marketed in the Maldives and are hoping to introduce it in Pakistan.

“We now hold a major share of the local market as well,” he said.

PC House a leading IT Solutions provider was established in 1997 to provide the Sri Lanka IT sector with the latest and innovative technology in par with the developed countries.

PCH today is a Business Partner in Sri Lanka for may prestigious international brands.
