CIMA’s Director Rick Sturgein Sri Lanka

Director Employer and Strategic Development CIMA, UK Rick Sturge is on an official visit to Sri Lanka. Rick is a Chartered Accountant with over 20 years’ experience of working both in senior finance, commercial and business development roles in a variety of service organisations.

Having trained with Coopers & Lybrand, his first industry role was with London Life, later to become part of AMP. He then became European CFO of a consulting engineering division within WMX Technologies.

A move into commercial and business development roles resulted in him becoming a shared service specialist with cross industry experience.

He has worked for Serco, BT and more recently the BPO operations within PwC and Accenture supporting a range of multinational clients in different industries.

Sturge, who has great conviction on shared services will dedicate part of his short stay to share his wide cross industry experience whilst addressing a high profile round table discussion on the growing opportunities available for Asia for BPO operators and how Sri Lanka could leverage to develop this industry with substantial inflows of Foreign Investment that would be economically viable.

Included in the group that will be addressed by Sturge is the Minister of Enterprise Development and Investment Sarath Amunugama, The Commissioner General and Secretary of the Ministry of Labour, Secretary to Minister of Public Administration, the Deputy governor of the Central Bank, Director General of the BOI and many other top government officials.

Other invitees to the programme include potential investors and existing BPO operators.

During his stay in Sri Lanka, Rick will call on the Minster of Labour to share his experience and discuss strergies on employment generation.

They will also discuss the possibilities on how CIMA could help to ensure that youth are better employable.

Rick will call on the Deputy Minister of vocational training and visit two leading banks in the county to discuss long term strategic proposals.
