Up Country Tamil Media Alliance hails President's appointments

A resolution was passed unanimously congratulating President Mahinda
Rajapaksa for appointing V. Puthirasigamoney, CWC MP as Deputy Minister
of Justice and Law Reforms and K.P. Govindaraj, Central Provincial
Councillor as chief organiser for Sri Lanka Freedom Party for Nuwara
Eliya district that consists of five electorates namely Kotmale, Nuwara
Eliya, Nuwara Eliya-Maskeliya, Walapane and Hanguranketa at a monthly
meeting of the Up Country Tamil Media Alliance held on Saturday at the
Redflag Union's Auditorium, Hatton presided over by President S.
Duraisamy. It was added in the resolution that the Up Country Tamil
Media Alliance hailed the appointments from the minority community
especially from planation community that represent the Indian Origins
and greeted them.
The new appointments had shown the President's approach for the
welfare of the planation community and their progress.
This is the first time the Sri Lanka Freedom Party has appointed a
person of Indian Origin as Chief Electoral Organiser.
This is the first time in the history of any Cabinet, a planation
leader was appointed as a Deputy Minister for Justice and Law Reforms.
However both appointments have given pride to the community.
