Sri Lankan paddlers fail to live upto expectations

China retained both men's and women's titles at the World Team Table
Tennis Championships 2008 which concluded in Guangzhou Gymnasium in
Guangzhou, China on Sunday. Chinese men beat Korea in straight sets
(3-0) while Chinese women defeated Singapore (3-1).
Both Sri Lanka men's and women's teams failed to live up to
expectations as the Lankan women went down to Bosnia in their deciding
match. Only Deepika Rodrigo was able to win her match but lost her
reverse singles as the final scores were 3-1 in favour of Bosnia.

11-3, Ishara Madurangi lost to Dragana Iveljic 12-10, 7-11, 6-11, 11-8,
7-11, Ruhansi Wijekoon lost to Belma Busatlic 4-11, 11-5, 3-11, 11-8,
4-11, Deepika Rodrigo lost to Dragana Iveljic 4-11, 7-11, 1-11.
Lankan men beat Jamaica in a closely contested game. Yohan Deshapriya
triumphed his both matches to steer Sri Lanka to a 3-2 victory. Results:

to enter the next stage in their division four.
