Religious ceremonies to felicitate ex-ANCL employee

W. A. Leelaratne Wettasinghe held a number of positions in Lake House during a period of 37 years.

He joined as a clerk in 1967, and held the post of Assistant Administrative Officer Editorial and General Secretary of the Lake House Sri Lanka Nidahas Sevaka Sangamaya. He took initiatives to secure priority for employees' children when recruitments are made to the Company and also to seek justice for victimised employees.

He became the chief SLFP Organiser for Habaraduwa electorate during the tenure of the late Sirimavo Bandaranaike and contributed his lot to the SLFP along with ministers Anura Bandaranaike, Dharmasiri Senanayake and Alavi Moulana.

He was however, deprived of his job when the UNP regime took the reins of power. He departed from our midst last December 25. To mark his third month remembrance a Sanghika Dana to Maha Sangha will be offered on March 25 followed, by a Dharma Desana.
