LTTE fires at fishermen crossing into cleared area

Three fishermen died and another three injured when eleven fishermen held by LTTE terrorists who attempted to enter the cleared area at Omanthai Forward Defence Line were caught up in a crossfire yesterday around 01.30 a.m.

Air Force pounds Tiger bases and boatyard

Air force fighter jets pounded LTTE Forward operation bases in Mannar and a boatyard in Mullaitivu yesterday morning causing heavy damages to the LTTE, Air Force spokesman Wing Commander Andrew Wijesuriya said.

Two killed in claymore explosion

A Police Sergeant and a Police Constable were killed and six others including a civilian and two STF personnel were injured when the LTTE triggered a claymore mine targeting a police and STF foot patrol in Thandiadi, Batticaloa yesterday morning, Police Media Spokesman Senior DIG N. K. Ilangakoon said.
