George Steuarts Ltd, the oldest Sri Lankan
company established in 1835 is looking at opportunities in China and
India, its new Chairman Jayantha Wimalagooneratne said. Succeeding
S. Skandakumar who was in office for over three decades,
Wimalagooneratne said they have planned strategic investments to
achieve multinational opportunity.

No merger between SriLankan, Mihin - Presidential Secretary
The Government yesterday refuted fuelling
speculation that there was an imminent merger between national
carrier SriLankan Airlines and Mihin Air. "There is no idea of a
merger between the two airlines following the termination of the
management contract that Sri Lankan Airlines had with its minority
shareholder Emirates till yesterday but what will take place will be
a partnership between the two airlines, Presidential Secretary,
Lalith Weeratunga told Daily News Business.
