EPDP to contest as single party
The Eelam People's Democratic Party (EPDP) yesterday decided to
contest the forthcoming Provincial Councils Elections in the Eastern
Province as a single party without forming any alliances, EPDP spokesman
Nelson Edirisinghe told the Daily News yesterday.
The EPDP led by Minister Douglas Devananda contested the recently
concluded Local Government elections as an alliance with the EPRLF
Vartharaja wing and the PLOTE.
"The decision has been taken as the party strongly believes in the
policy of having the Central Government as Coalition Government
representing all political parties and Provincial Councils with self
governing policy," the spokesman added. (RW) |
