Gihan, a one and half year old son of G.M. Sarath Disanayake employed at
the Road Development Authority in Sethsiripaya, Battaramulla is
suffering bilateral profound hearing loss with poor speech development.
Consultant ENT Surgeon Dr. A.D.K.S.N. Yasawardena of the Lady
Ridgeway Hospital for Children has recommended the infant to undergo the
cochlear implant surgery and to place the hearing aid for good speech
and language development.
This hearing aid is very expensive and the total cost of it is Rs.
2,462,000.
Parents of infant are not in a position to raise the required money
to buy the hearing aid and request the public to assist the child.

Islamic seminar
A seminar organised by the Dahwa Committee of the Sri Lanka Islamic
Centre will be held tomorrow at 4.00 p.m. at the BMICH Committee Room
'A'.
The seminar will be chaired by Parliamentary Affairs Minister M.H.
Mohamed, Chairman, Sri Lanka Islamic Centre.
The keynote address on the theme 'Prophet Muhammed, message to the
'Current World' will be delivered by Dr. Ishteqaque Ahmed, Associate
Professor of the Department of Islamic Studies, Jami Hambard University,
New Delhi, India. Seyed Abdul Cader, Islamic lecturer and author of
Islamic publications will address the gathering.
A special feature at the seminar will be the release of the book
Natchinthanaigal by Minister Mohamed.
Book launch
Four children's books titled Tharaha Vaira Nethi Lamai Vemu, Katha
Karana Malli Pusa, Kesel Gedi Puthe Oya Hari Uthum and Hari Honda Kimbul
Mama written by Captain Tilak Senanayake will be launched at 3.00 p.m.
on April 8 at the National Library Services Board Auditorium,
Independence Square, Colombo 7.
Rear Admiral Sarath Wijesekera, Director General Civil Security
Force, Bandula Padmakumara Chairman/Managing Director - Associated
Newspapers of Ceylon Limited, Karu Paranavithana, Chief Executive
Officer, Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation, Sunil Mihindukula, Associate
Editor - Silumina and Ajith Dharmasiri, Chief Editor - Mihira will be
the chief guests at this ceremony.
Rajitha Gamini Wijesekera, Director of Music SLBC and Nelu Adhikari
will also participate.
Prize-giving
The annual prize-giving of the Sri Sucharitha Wardhana (English
medium) Dhamma School will be held at 8.30 a.m. tomorrow at the Siri
Dhammarama Temple, Nugegoda.
Sri Sucharitha Wardhana Dhamma School is conducted in collaboration
with the Siri Dhammarama Temple and Lyceum International School to teach
Dhamma in English to children who study in the English medium.
The prize-giving ceremony will be chaired by Ven. Pathberiye
Wimalagnana Nayaka Thera and hosted by Education Minister Susil
Premajayantha and founder and Managing Director of Lyceum Group of
International Schools, Mohan Lal Grero.

The 14th Annual General Meeting and election of office-bearers of the
Moratuwa Art Forum will be held at 5.00 pm. on Sunday at Moratuwa
Sripalee Reception Hall with the participation of Forum President
Laksiri Fernando.
