Peterites: Past vs Present at Rugby
It all begins on coming Saturday, 5th of April 2008 at CR and FC
Grounds when past and present Peterite Rugby greats will clash in
Peterite Legends vs SPC Rugby Team 2008 for the late Hussain Didi
Challenge Shield, staged to commence the 2008 Rugby Season.
St. Peter's College was one of the first four Colleges which launched
Sri Lanka's foray into this exciting sport, 76 years ago, leading to a
ground swell of talent that fed a growing rugby club culture that is
today knocking on the doors of international rugby.
Year 2007 concluded as St. Peter's College 1st XV Rugby team under
Ranuka Jayasinghe was crowned as the undisputed Schools Rugby Double
Champions after an immaculate all round performances. Be it playing
skills, talent, and sportsmanship, disciplines (both players and
spectators of St. Peter's) or match organizing, Peterites stood above
the rest. |
