Trinity opens season with Old Boys Match

A far improved Trinity Rugby Team will take on the past greats of TCK rugby at a friendly match at CH & FC on the 5th Saturday at 4.00 pm.

This is Trinity's curtain raiser this season and is bound to be a hard fought affair with big names such as BNR Fernando, Suranga Puhpakumara, Haris Omar, Sean Wijesinge, Kavinda Jayasena, Rajiv Ganapathy, Dilip Selvam, Sean Wanigasekera, and Saliya Kumara turning up for the Old boys. The organisers - Old Trinitians Rugby Scrummage ( OTRS) has promised a fun time for all, with food stalls, music and a gift pack get the die hard Lion supporters ready for the season.


President's College in eight wicket win

President's College outplayed their traditional rivals Asoka MV by eight wickets in their second annual limited overs cricket encounter worked off at the R. Premadasa Stadium yesterday.

Soniya Perera and Maduka Liyanapathirana of President's College were named man of the match and best bowler respectively while Dinuka Rukmal of Asoka MV was picked as the best bowler.

Asoka MV: 102 in 45.3 overs (D. Rukmal 26, M. Liyanapathirana 4 for 13, M. Hewagama 2 for 16, S. Perera 2 for 22, R. Chaturanga 2 for 15).

President's College: 105 for 2 in 20 overs (S. Perera 35 ret, S. Silva 25 n.o, N. Geethanga 20 n.o, D. Rukmal 2 for 12).


Volleyball tourney at Panadura

A volleyball tournament organised by Mithrodaya Society of Panadura as part of their New Year Festival will be held on April 6 (Sunday) from 8.30 a.m. on wards at Betthegama Grandma playground, Panadura. The tournament will be conducted in the men's, women's and open categories.


Easy for Panadura Royal

Royal College Panadura trounced their traditional rivals St. John's College by nine wickets in their annual limited overs cricket encounter worked off at Panadura yesterday.

St. John's: 89 in 21 overs (S. Chaturanga 24, S. Sameera 18, S. Chandima 4 for 22, D. Ranawaka 3 for 23, R. Silva 2 for 3).

Royal: 94 for 1 in 12.2 overs (S. Ranjan 50 n.o, K. Dinidu 16).
