MCA knock out tourney this weekend

The 15th Singer-MCA Premier League Knock-out tournament 2008 will get underway this weekend in Colombo. The top eight teams in the league table are included into the Knock-out segment.

Nine teams participated in the league tournament with Sampath Bank retaining the title for the second successive year while John Keells failed to get into the final eight.

The tournament will be conducted on the same lines as the league, using the white ball, coloured clothing, Duckworth and Lewis system and all the other paraphernalia used in a one day international.

The draw (quarterfinals):

April 19: Sampath Bank A v Nawaloka Group at Bloomfield. Hatton National Bank A v Seylan Bank A at Thurstan College.

April 20: Janashakthi Group A v Unichela A at Bloomfield. Ceylinco SC A v East West Marketing A At Thurstan College.

The semifinals will be played on April 22 at the P. Saravanamuttu Stadium and at Reid Avenue with the final scheduled for April 26 at the Colts CC grounds, Havelock Park.
