9,000 litres of diesel seized enroute to uncleared areas

A stock of over 9,000 litres of diesel were seized by the Security
Forces while being transported to uncleared areas in two separate
detections in Mannar on Thursday, the Media Centre for National Security
(MCNS) said.
According to a MCNS spokesman around 1,040 litres of diesel were
seized from a lorry and the driver and his assistant were arrested by
the Security Forces in Periyagramam, Mannar on Thursday around 11.30
a.m.
In a separate incident, around 7,980 litres of diesel were seized and
three LTTE suspects apprehended by the Security Forces in Mannar town
when they were transporting the diesel in a lorry to the uncleared area
on Thursday evening.
An MCNS spokesman said a lorry transporting 38 barrels (7,980 litres)
each consisting 210 litres of diesel to the uncleared areas in Mannar
was seized in Mannar town on Thursday around 6.30 p.m.
Two LTTE suspects were arrested along with the diesel, he added.
Mannar police are investigating. |
