Lanka alternative site for BCP centre

Sri Lanka will be an alternative site for Business Continuity Plan (BCP) centre for India's Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) industry. This sector is one of the huge sectors in the whole of India, the Chief Executive Officer, MA Foi Management Consultants Ltd, E. Balaji said.

"Sri Lanka is an ideal BCP place for India and we are keenly watching this segment in Sri Lanka. At present more than one million employed are working for some BPO company, which has a more than 15 per cent year on year growth," Balaji told the Daily News Business.

He said they have already invested Rs 600 million in Sri Lanka and looking at opportunities to expand local operations within the HR sector.

Balaji was in Sri Lanka to understand and explore business potentials in Sri Lanka. He is currently working with more than 40 Sri Lanka corporates including blue-chip companies.

Ma Foi is the largest HR service provider in India. It is into multiple based sectors including recruitment (head hunting), temporary staffing (out sourcing) operating in more than 14 countries in the country. Sri Lanka has a lot of advantages to be a BCP centre for India due to English, mathematics and accounting knowledge.

Therefore, Ma Foi is now keenly watching the Sri Lanka to exploit business opportunities, Balaji said.

Ma Foi is working with more than half of the Fortune 500 companies with a turnover of US $ 600 million recruiting 6,000 people every month or every working minute they are recruiting one person in India.
