NTB records Rs 504m profit in 2007

Nation Trust Bank (NTB) has recorded a profit of Rs. 504.8 million in
2007. The Bank will look for more customised and convenient products to
attract and retain customers this year.
"The bank, a subsidiary company of John Keells Holdings (JKH) is
conscience on the Return on Investment (ROI) with the current
competitive and challenging environment in the country.
"Therefore, it will mainly focus on strategic investments to provide
a better service to the customers," Deputy General Manager Consumer
Banking, Renuka Fernando said.

She said they will set up personal banking centres inside every
Keells super market bringing the synergy of the group to provide
convenient banking services. They agreed to install service centres in
every Keells supermarket with an officer to serve their customers.
The Bank is the sole franchisee for American Express Credit cards,
one of their prestigious products catering to middle and upper middle
class segment.
The bank's net income increased to R 3,44.6 million in 2007
reflecting a 30 per cent growth while operating expenses increased only
by 23 per cent, signifying the improvement in productivity and is
expected to position itself as the most convenient bank in the country,"
she said.
Fernando said they are looking at more technology based systems
including Internet banking, telephone banking and mobile banking to make
it more convenient to the customers.
They will also set up an automated billing settlement payment system
to pay all utility bills for customers and they have already signed an
agreement with the Ceylon Electricity Board to do those operations, she
said.
The Bank has 34 branches out of which 27 of them are open all 365
days and expect to open new branches in strategic locations and service
centres in the country. "With the challenging economic environmental
conditions we will continue to make investment for value added products
to existing customers in the country," she said. |
