33 Tigers arrested in Italy

Italian Police said they have arrested 33 suspected members of Sri Lanka’s LTTE in pre-dawn raids across the country yesterday. Police in Naples said the suspects were picked up in 10 cities including Rome, Genoa, Bologna, Naples and Palermo at the end of a two-year investigation.

Poson celebrations draw thousands to sacred sites

ANURADHAPURA: Nearly 100,000 Buddhists participated in Ata-Sil campaign (observing eight precepts) conducted at Mihintale and Atamasthana at Anuradhapura. Devotees were mainly seen around the sacred Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi and Ruwanmeli Seya, on Poson Full Moon Day.

Bunkering, tank farm at Hambantota Port gets approval

The unsolicited project proposal for construction of the bunkering facility and the tank farm at the Hambantota Harbour forwarded by the China Huanqiu Contracting Engineering Corporation has been given approval after thorough evaluation by the Project Committee and the Cabinet Appointed Negotiations Committee.
