Boost for Russia, Lanka ties

Borodavkin held consultations with Foreign Secretary Dr. Palitha Kohona.
During the consultations, a thorough exchange of views took place on
the current state of, and prospects for Russian-Sri Lankan relations.
The sides noted with satisfaction both the high level of bilateral
political dialogue and the positive dynamics of mutually advantageous
cooperation in a whole array of growth areas.
The invariable similarity of the sides’ approaches towards the key
issues in world and regional politics was re-affirmed and the importance
of strengthening the UN’s central role in world affairs and building a
multipolar world order based on the rule of international law was noted.
The sides accentuated attention to the need for a consistent and
resolute struggle against international terrorism in all its forms and
manifestations.
The consultations have borne out the mutual keenness of the sides on
building on the regular inter-MFA dialogue and on reinforcing the
coordination of efforts and cooperation between Russia and Sri Lanka
within the UN and other international forums of which they are members. |
