Nuwara Eliya lights up for Poson

Religious functions, dansals, recital of Bakthi Geeta and poojas were
held both in the Buddhist and Hindu temples on Poson Full Moon day in
the entire Nuwara Eliya district.
The most noteworthy feature was the giant pandal erected by CWC chief
Arumugan Thondaman and his CWC organisation at Pundalu Oya to mark the
Poson day, where a large number of devotees and estate workers were
present.
At the Republican International School at Mahagastota, Nuwara Eliya
the students of this school and the school's Buddhist Society gifted
five blood pressure metres to the Nuwara Eliya General Hospital valued
at Rs. 25,000 at a ceremony held at the school premises.
Dansals were held by the Buddhist organisations of the Nuwara Eliya
Technical College, the Economic Centre, the Ceylon Electricity Board,
the three wheelers association and several others at different points.
Among the Hindu temples, the Gayathiri temple held a pooja and yagam,
where hundreds of pilgrims and devotees from different parts in the
country participated. |
