Brothel house case fixed for June 25

Manager of a private guest house was ordered to furnish Rs. 10,000
cash and Rs. 100,000 lakh personal bail by Sumudu Premachandra,
Magistrate and ADJ Kandy when he pleaded not guilty in a case filed by
the Kandy Division Vice Squad (KDVS) on Wednesday.
A.M. Ihala Gamage of Ambawatte, Nugawela is charged under the Brothel
House Ordinance with operating a house of ill fame at Buwelikada, Kandy
on April 26.
Nanda Senanayake, councel for the accused, informed court that the
accused allows genuine couples to stay in the guest house after entering
their names, addresses and national identity card numbers in the
register of the guest house.
Sub Inspector Lalith Dharmasena, OIC KDVS, who filed the plaint,
informed court that there are three witnesses in the case and moved that
summons be issued on them.
The Magistrate issued summons on witnesses and fixed the case for
inquiry on June 25. He also directed the accused to appear in court on
the inquiry date. |
