Provincial level VB begins today

The Provincial stage of the National Volleyball championship for the President's gold cup commences today at four different venues.

The matches to be conducted today and tomorrow are central Province at University Courts, Sabaragamuwa Province at Ratnapura Indoor stadium, North Central Province at Dudley Senanayake MV Courts Hingurakkgoda and Wayamba Province at Senanayake MV Courts, Madampe. The other four Provinces will hold their Provincial Championship on July 26 and 27 respectively.

The Provinces are Western Uva, Eastern and Southern. The teams that won the zonal championship and the runner up teams qualified to play in the Provincial level championship.

This year the tournament attracted 392 women and 732 men's teams The Provincial stage will see 72 men and 72 women teams clash at different venues to reach the National championship stage.

The winner and the runner-up of each province will make their way to fight for the national championship.
