Karate at Ratgama
The International Jeeth Kendo Martial arts championship commenced
yesterday at Ratgama MV and will continue till tomorrow.
The tournament which is held in Sri Lanka for the first time includes
many styles of karate. The different types of martial arts included for
this year's events are karate, Kung Fu, and the Sri Lankan style martial
arts known as Angampora. The championship has attracted over 1000 with
karatekas from India, Nepal, Pakistan, Bangladesh and China, too
participating.
Convincing wins for Dharmapala
Dharmapala Vidyalaya registered two convincing 8 wicket victories
against Piliyandala Central and Sri Dharmaloka College respectively in
their under-17 Division one limited over tournament cricket matches
played at Pannipitiya.
In both games Gihan Hondamunige top scored for Dharmapala, Gihan
stroked an unbeaten 65 against Piliyandala Central while against Sri
Dharmaloka he hit a fine unbeaten 51.
With these two comfortable wins Dharmapala has moved to the final
round of the tournament.

for 17, H. Wickremasinghe 2 for 30).
Dharmapala 158 for 2 in 19 overs (G. Hondamunige 65 n.o., T. D.
Liyanage 30, N. Pavithri 34, D. Perera 15 n.o.).
Sri Dharmaloka College 97 in 39.2 overs (N. Subodha 22, C. Perera 14,
D. Jayasundara 2 for 16, R. Lakshan 2 for 28, H. Wickremasinghe 2 for
12).
Dharmapala 99 in 15.2 overs (G. Hondamunige 51 n.o., N. Pavithri 26,
