Karunaratne shines for Devans

K.I.N. Karunaratne contributed for Maliyadeva College Kurunegala with both bat and ball to defeat the Joseph Vaz College in their under 15 cricket encounter recently. Joseph Vaz College batted first and made 209 runs with W.A.R. Jayasundara top scoring. K.I.N. Karunaratne took three for 31 to restrict the visitors.

In reply, Maliyadeva could easily get passed the winning target with L.K.

Fransisco making a half ton (56) well assisted by K.I.N. Karunaratne (48).

Maliyadeva by 34 runs

Maliyadeva College recorded a 34 run victory over Sandalankawa MV in another encounter. The number of overs had been reduced to 20 and batting first Maliyadeva scored 111 for 8. The visitors could not come anywhere near the winning target and restricted to 77/7.

Maliyadeva: 111/8 (B.T.G. Abeysuriya 25, L.V.R. Kumara 4 for 26)

Sandalankawa MV : 77/7 (B.T.G. Abeysuriya 3 for 2, V.J. Bandara 2 for 21)

Fransisco a half ton

L.K. Francisco made a brilliant knock of 63 and B.G. Lakshman took 4 for 20 to help Maliyadeva College to record a comfortable win over Vidyartha College Kandy recently.

Maliyadeva : 234 (L.K. Fransisco 63, B.T.G. Abeysuriya 31, S.A. Abeysinghe 4 for 37)

Vidyartha : 155/8 (T.N. Rupasena 47, B.G. Lakshman 4 for 20) C.W.

Petes Junior Awards

The junior cricket awards ceremony of St Peter›s College, Bambalapitiya will be held today at the College Hall, commence from 4 p.m onwards.

Junior Peterites who excelled at the under 13, 15, and 17 in all divisions will receive their awards from the Chief Guest former College Rector Rev. Fr. Felician Ranjith Perera . Former Peterite skipper Jehan Jayasuriya will be the Guest of Honour.

AGM on Monday

The Annual General Meeting of the Veterans Table Tennis Association of Sri Lanka will be held on August 11 (Monday) at Otters Aquatic Club, Bauddhaloka Mawatha, Colombo 07. M.M.M. Lafeer will be the chief guest at this occasion.
