CodeGen to develop IT village

Local Software engineers easily pick up business ideas and maintain high standards in the global arena said Managing Director of CodeGen Limited Harsha Subasinghe.

He was speaking to Daily News Business at the opening of their new premises in Colombo that was held yesterday.

"CodeGen International is a Sri Lankan ICT solution provider for global travel and tour industry. At the moment we provide employment for over 150 Sri Lankan graduates and expect to recruit over 100 IT graduates in 2008-2009 fiscal year to accommodate our future expansion programme", he said.

Comparing with other countries local software engineers' adept ethical concepts in the industry. Creativity is the most important aspect in software developing.

In the global arena clients are focusing on the creativity but not the country that developed it.

Sri Lankan Software developers have high potential in tapping global market.

Local IT graduates are highly talented and have high demand in the global arena, he said.

"In the near future we expect to focus on developing solutions for the energy sector and Eco-friendly solutions for the global market.

We have invested nearly USD 1 million for the new premises which will facilitate our future expansion programme," he said.

"The company is also planing to develop an IT village within three years time. Under this project we expect to expand our business to outskirts and the company will embark upon the project next year.

This IT village will provide necessary facilities for the employees such as quarters and recreational environments."

"We hope these would provide more opportunities for our young graduates to work freely expanding their imaginations", he said.
