NCP, Sabaragamuwa PC members to be sworn in

Ministers and UPFA members of the North Central and Sabaragamuwa Provincial Councils will be sworn in soon after the gazette notification is issued by Election Commissioner Dayananda Dissanayake, UPFA General Secretary Minister Susil Premajayantha said.

Addressing the weekly Cabinet briefing in Colombo yesterday, the Minister said the Government has taken a policy decision to appoint four members who have obtained the highest preferential votes next to the elected members for the four bonus seats obtained by the UPFA in Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa, Ratnapura and Kegalle districts.

"We have already sent these four selected names to the Elections Commissioner," he said.

The Minister said the UPFA commenced its election campaign after appointing Maheepala Herath and Berty Premalal Dissanayake as Chief Ministerial Candidates for the North Central and Sabaragamuwa Provincial Councils." This was a unanimous decision taken by the party," he said.
