Non-Governmental Organisations which support terrorism will be taken
to task, Social Services and Social Welfare Deputy Minister Lionel
Premasiri said .
"We are monitoring NGOs. Most NGOs render a significant service and
only a handful of NGOs support terrorism and other conspiracies. If
inquiries prove that an NGO is involved in such activity stern action
will be taken," Premasiri told a ceremony in Galle recently.
The Deputy Minister said soldiers are eagerly waiting to go back to
the battlefield.
"This is because they are confident that the war will end. More
youths are joining the Forces. There are only 12 kilometers more to
capture Kilinochchi.
The LTTE has no cadres to fight today and they are forcibly
recruiting every above 16 years," Premasiri said.
He said President Mahinda Rajapaksa's hands have been strengthened
following victory at the north Central and Sabaragamuwa Provincial
Council Election. "We thank the people for understanding the
Government's development drive accurately."
The Deputy Minister said a cultivation drive has been launched for
the first time in the country's history.
The health sector has also achieved a significant progress, he said. |
