Slippery death for soldier

A soldier who slipped from the third floor of the Kelanitissa Power
Station Administration building succumbed to his injuries at the Colombo
National Hospital yesterday morning, police spokesman SSP Ranjith
Gunasekera said.
“Soldier Chamara Perera was on the night shift guarding the power
station. He was found fallen on the ground by an employee of the
Kelanitissa Power Station around 2.00 a.m.,” SSP Gunasekera added.
“We suspect that Perera had slipped from the third storey of the
Kelanitissa Power Station Administration building,” he said. Perera died
on admission to the Colombo National Hospital. He was a resident of
Wattala.
Grandpass police are investigating. Meanwhile, STF’s I. Weeratunga
was shot dead by an LTTE sniper on Sunday while manning a point in
Rupaskulam, Thirukkovil. The incident occurred around 3.00 p.m.
Weeratunga succumbed to his injuries at the Thirukkovil Hospital.
