Jayakodi karate champ
Veteran H.R.S. Jayakodi is a soldier who serves the country in two
different ways. He not only serves Sri Lanka as a brave soldier but is
also a promising Karateka who offers his guidance to hundreds of
students as a Sensei.
The former schoolboy from Galewela MV was enlisted into the Sri Lanka
Army Vijayabahu Regiment and emerged as the champion in the Kata and
Kumithe events of the Inter-regiment Karate Championship in 2001.
He was the Gold medalist in both Kata and Kumithe events of the 2002
National Sports Festival as well as the Central Province Karate
Championships in 2002.
He also won gold medals in the India-Sri Lanka friendly Karate
Championship held at Kuliyapitiya earlier this year.
He is currently functioning as the Western Province Education
Department Schools karate instructor.
Jayakody is a renowned Karate instructor and was awarded the Sensei
status and he is also the Advisor for the Western Province for Seidokai
Organization.
