Buddhist talk
Ven. Prof. Dhammavihari Thera will deliver a public Buddhist talk in
English on "Pancha Sila in the Life of the Humans" at a meeting of the
Servants of the Buddha Society on Saturday September 13 at 4.30 p.m. at
the Maitri Hall, Lauries Road, Bambalapitiya.
Public lecture
Prof. A Pathmeswaram, Department of Community Medicine, University of
Kelaniya will give a public lecture on "Social and Ecological Factors of
Community and Family Medicine' at 5 p.m. on Thursday September 11 at the

21st annual session
The 21st annual session of the organisation of Professional
Associations (OPA) will be held at the Sri Lanka Institute of Tourism
and Hotel Management, 78, Galle Road, Colombo 3 on October 11. The
Technical sessions will be held from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and the evening
function will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. The theme of this year's
conference is "Eradication of poverty and hunger".
National prisoners' Welfare Day
"The Sri Lanka Prisoners' Welfare Day Celebrations 2008" organised by
the Prisoners' Welfare Association in association with the Department of
Prisons, the Mohan Lal Grero Foundation and the Sri Lanka Foundation
Institute will be held on September 12 at the Sri Lanka Foundation
Institute, Independence Road, Colombo, 07 at 2 p.m.
Ven. Prof. Dhammavihari Nayaka Thera and Retired Justice Hector S.
Yapa will be the distinguished guests at this programme.
Annual Sessions
The Sri Lanka Economic Association will be holding its Annual
Sessions on September 19 and 20. The Sessional Theme will be Inflation,
Competitiveness and Growth. The inauguration of the sessions will he
held on September 19 and the Technical Sessions on September 20. Prof.
C. P. Chandrasekhar, Professor, Centre for Economic Studies and
Planning, Jwaharlal Nehru University. New Delhi, will deliver the
Keynote address.
