Grenade blast injures 10

COLOMBO: Ten persons were injured, two of them seriously, in a hand grenade explosion in the Pettah last night.

Police said an underworld gang was behind the blast, which took place near the Mohamadiyya hotel in Pettah.

Several vehicles including a Police Emergency car that was passing the place when the blast occurred were badly damaged. The injured were rushed to the National Hospital. Pettah Police are investigating.
