Hyundai Ladies Golf Classic 2008

Since the inception of the Hyundai Golf Classic in the year 2002, the
Ladies section of the Royal Colombo Golf Club (RCGC) as organisers, have
in collaboration with Hyundai Lanka (Pvt) Ltd., the sponsors, held this
tournament for the past six years and the seventh of which takes place
this year on Friday September 19 at the RCGC.
This tournament which commenced with just 20 lady golfers, has grown
through the years with the continued support of Hyundai, will have
around 60 golfers competing in the most awaited golf extravaganza.
The competition itself has come to be regarded as a popular event in
the Ladies golf calendar, for the fun and entertainment and prizes
provided.
These details were made known to the members of the media by the
Executive Director Hyundai, Gehan Siribaddane, and the Managing Director
H.A. Reuter, on handing over the sponsorship cheque for the competition
from the "Hyundai Automotive Group," which is spoken of as the world's
fifth largest auto maker. According to Manori Jayakody, the co-ordinator,
the tournament is open to all lady members, non members, handicappers
and non handicappers. The entries for which, close on Wednesday
September 17 at the RCGC - will going by the past have around 60
participants.
The competition will be conducted on the Stableford format and
commence at 7.00 a.m. on Friday at the RCGC. It will be played over 18
holes and, in the event of a tie, the winner will be adjudged on the
basis of the Stableford score over the back nine and so on. The players
will compete in accord with their respective handicap categories viz,
0-12, 13-24 and 25-36. There will also be a non handicap category.
The winners of each handicap category will receive a trophy and
return Air ticket. Winners of Non - Handicap category, six Hidden Holes
and wooden spoonist will also receive a trophy and a prize.
The winner of the hole - in - one will receive two Air tickets to
visit the Hyundai Motor Plant in Korea, including two rounds of golf in
Seoul. The prize giving and fellowship dinner will take place on the
same day at 7.30 p.m. |
