Amendments to LG Polls Act to facilitate Northern Polls

Amendments will be introduced shortly to the Local Authority (Special Provisions) Act No.55 of 2007 which was enacted on November 16, 2007 in order to hold Local Government Elections in 33 Local Authorities the Northern Province. The elections is to be held shortly after the Armed Forces clear the Province and establish peace, Information and Media Minister and the Cabinet Spokesman Anura Priyadarshana Yapa said.
