Army - women's soccer champions

The Sri Lanka Army women's soccer team won the championship of the inter-club women's soccer tournament 2008 conducted by the Football Federation of Sri Lanka.

In the finals played at the CR and FC grounds, Army women's team beat Sri Lanka Police women soccer team by two goals to nil. Former DIG and competition chairman Gamini Randeni gave away the trophies.

Director Administration/Operations of Football Federation (FFSC) Anura de Silva, Director Youth Department R. M. U. Mahindapala, SSP Clement de Silva and Chairperson (Women's Football), Olivia Gamage also attended the award ceremony.

Major S. Pathmanathan was the manager of the winning team and I. Noordeen was the coach.
