The Ambassador of the Republic of Korea, Choi Ki Chul paid a courtesy call on Higher Education Minister Prof. Wiswa Warnapala, at the Higher Education Ministry. The Korean Ambassador said he would take a personal interest and encourage the Government and various agencies in Korea to assist universities in Sri Lanka. The granting of postgraduate scholarships to Sri Lankan graduates will also be considered. The Ambassador requested the Minister to explore the possibilities of teaching the Korean langauge in local universities. The Minister said he would take-up the matter with the University Grants Commission and relevant universities.

The Government is successfully defeating terrorism and carrying out humanitarian operations while the United National Party (UNP) is trying its best to create trouble and misinterpret Government victories.
