BOI signs US$ 1 million agreement to make yachts and boats
The Board of Investment entered into an agreement with Solas Marine
Lanka Limited to establish a project to manufacture yachts and boats for
export with an investment of US $ 1 million.
Two decades of excellent service and experience is what culminates
the portfolio of Solas Marine Services Co., LLC, a Dubai-based
multinational company that has now ventured into the rapidly developing
Sri Lankan market. Solas Marine Lanka will cater to the international
luxury yacht and boat market.

Products will be manufactured and exported from the factory premises
in Sri Lanka.
Solas is the creation of Dubai based Chairman P. S. Kamath and is
managed by Prashant Kamath (Managing Director) and Preethi Kamath
(Director).
The organisation is a major solutions provider for the marine
industry specialising in life saving and survival equipment, fire and
gas detection, breathing air cascade system supply, installation and
maintenance, and navigation and communication. The business houses its
flagship in Dubai, UAE with branches in other GCC countries such as
Bahrain, Oman and Saudi Arabia, and has also launched service stations
in the Indian subcontinent.
As a part of the expansion programme Solas has commenced operations
in Wattala. The current workforce houses a staff of 60 that has been
allotted to build fishing boats, luxury boats, interisland service
boats, crew boats, petrol boats, leisure crafts and luxury yachts.
The company anticipates significant expansion in operations in the
next six months, by employing more personnel and acquiring various
quality standards.
By blending its international expertise with the promise it sees in
the Sri Lankan boat manufacturing industry, Solas Marine Lanka Limited
hopes that its endeavour will be advantageous both to the company and to
