First let met say it is a very great honour for
me to have been asked to deliver the annual lecture which
commemorates the life of one of Sri Lanka’s finest sons, Lakshman
Kadirgamar. Lakshman hosted my fist visit to Sri Lanka in 1997 and I
was immediately struck by his intelligence, his wisdom and his
passion for his country.
