New GNs to be posted to Eastern Province

A new batch of 2,600 Grama Niladaris are to be recruited by the Public Administration and Home Affairs Ministry.

They will receive appointments letters from Home Affairs Minister Chandrasiri Gajadheera at a ceremony at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium on November 25. Ministry sources said the Grama Niladharis have been selected from those who got the highest marks at an open competitive examination.

There will be 16,600 Grama Niladharis with the new appointments.

The appointments had been made according to the cadre vacancies up to March 19, 2007. The shortage of Grama Niladaris in certain areas will be fulfilled with the new appointments, sources said.

The Ministry hopes to deploy the new recruits to the Eastern Province.

The newly appointed Grama Niladaris will undergo a three-month training course which will commence on December 1, sources stressed.
