Hansanie most outstanding sportswoman

Hansanie Weeratunga, a silver medallist at the last South Asian Games in swimming was adjudged the Most Outstanding Sportswoman of Mahamaya College, Kandy at the 'Colours Nite' held at the College auditorium recently. The chief guest was Pujith Jayasundera, DIG Central Range.

The Principal of Mahamaya, Indrani Vithanachchi delivered the welcome address and the following girls were awarded 'Pahana' which is the highest award presented to the sportswomen in the school. Chameka Madurawa (badminton), Shyama Rajapakshe, Lashika Rajapakshe and Anjana Perera (chess), Sgt. T. N. K. Meegaswatte, Cpl. D. M. D. C. U. Perera, L. Cpl. P. V. D. S. Chandrasiri, L. Cpl. K. W. M. S. S. Kobbewela (cadeting).

School colours were awarded to 15 students, special and all island awards were presented to 55 students each. Merit awards were presented to 127 students.
