Time Saved Richmond College, Galle from certain outright-defeat at
the hands of Kingswood College, Kandy in their schools cricket
tournament match concluded at the University grounds, Peradeniya
yesterday.
Richmond College scored 117 in their first innings and Kingswood were
38 for 3 overnight and they did well to score 197 all out yesterday.
Udara Hettige followed up his fine bowling performance of 5 for 25 to
score an elegant 51 with 7 fours. M.D. Karunaratne top scored with a
hard hit 52 which included 2 sixes and 4 fours. Medium Pacer T. Nadeera
bowled well to capture 5 for 62 and he was supported by Dananjaya de
Silva 4 for 66.
Faced with a deficit of 80 runs with 56 overs to be sent down.
Richmond College fared disastrously against the spin of Chalitha
Dharmaprema and R. Sandaruwan, when stumps were drawn. Richmond College
were tottering at 59 for 9 off 56 overs. Richmond College: 117 all out
