Dharmaraja College, Kandy won their inaugural big match against Sri
Sumangala College, Kandy, when they trounced them by five goals to nil
in their soccer match for the 'Past Footballers of Sri Sumangala and
Dharmaraja trophy' soccer match played at the Bogambara Stadium in Kandy.
At half time Rajans led 3-0.
Sri Sumangala College though beaten by a very convincing margin were
not disgraced as they fielded a virtually under 17 side for this match
which was played for the first time.
In fact Rajans should have played their traditional rivals Kingswood
College in a big clash of this nature but the latter had declined to
play and Sri Sumangala had filled the breach and this clash will be an
annual one for this trophy.
Rajans scored their goals through centre forward Kanishka Kumara (2),
centre forward L.D. Thanthrige (1), left extreme H.M. Bandara (1), and
centre half Dulaj Weerasinghe (1).
