Senanayake MMV steal the limelight

DSI Super Sports All Island Schools Volleyball Championships:

Senanayake MMV, Madampe stole the limelight by winning Under-14 Boys’ , Under-16 boys’ , under-16 girls’ and under-18 girls’ championships at the 10th annual DSI Super Sports All Island Schools Volleyball Championships which concluded at the Sugathadasa Indoor stadium yesterday.

In the under-14 boys’ final, they beat Rajasinghe MMV Ruwanwella by 25-10, 25-19 and 25-19 while in the under-16 boys’ final they overcame Dhammissara MMV Nattandiya 25-18, 21-25, 25-12, 23-25 and 19-17. The girls’ under-16 final saw them defeating Ibbagamuwa Model School by 25-14, 25-17 and 25-14 while in the girls’ under-18 final, they overcame Anamaduwa Central by 25-23, 25-21, 15-25, 25-20.

Chandima Niroshana (Davisamara MMV) and Sudarshika Madubhashini (Senanayaka MMV, Madampe) won the awards for the most outstanding boy and girl spikers respectively.

The tournament was organised by the Sri Lanka Volleyball Federation in association with the Ministry of Education and saw the participation of 4,350 teams from all parts of the country including the provincial stages.

Girls: 1. St. Bernadette’s MV, Polgahawela, 2. Dutugemunu MMV, Buttala, 3. St. Anthony’s MV, Koduwawa.

Under-14 Boys: 1. Senanayake MMV, Madampe, 2. Rajasinghe MMV, Ruwanwella, 3. Dhammissara MMV, Nattandiya.

Girls: 1. Ibbagamuwa Model School, 2. St. Bernadette’s MV, Polgahawela, 3. Agbopura MV, Kantale.

Under-16 Boys: 1. Senanayake MMV, Madampe, 2. Dhammissara MMV, Nattandiya, 3. Padmawathie MV, Dekatana.

Girls: 1. Senanayake MMV, Madampe, 2. Ibbagamuwa Model School, 3. Yogiyana MV, Wekada.

Under-18 Boys: 1. Davisamara MV, Seeduwa, 2. Dhammissara MMV, Nattandiya, 3. Senanayake MMV, Madampe.

Girls: 1. Senanayake MMV, Madampe, 2. Anamaduwa MMV, 3. Dhammissara MMV, Nattandiya.

U-18 Girls’:

Best attacker– Ruwini thakshila (Anamaduwa Cenrtral)

Best lifter- Pradeepa Ranatunga (Senanayaka MMV, Madampe)

Best Spiker – Sudarshika Madushashini (Senanayaka MMV, Madampe)

U-18 Boys’
