Youth Business Sri Lanka (YBSL) and the International Alert have
introduced a loan-supporting scheme for local youth to enhance
entrepreneurship.
Initially they will be starting from three districts. Gradually the
programme will expand to eight districts. (IA) is giving 80% recovery
rate for young entrepreneurs.
Speaking to the Daily News Business, National Programme Manager of
Youth Business Sri Lanka, Sujeewa Rathnakumara said,”We are mainly
targeting people who are handicapped, socially and mentally, orphans and
youth who do not have permanent residences, assets or training.”
YBSL programme targets disadvantaged youth, aged 18 to 35, who have a
viable Business idea, but could not release their ideas, mainly due to
lack of Capital.
The funds will also be used in providing training and technical
competencies to the national officers and regional bodies, who will
implement the YBSL programme islandwide. |
