Two UNP PS members extend support to President
Two UNP Pradeshiya Sabha members yesterday met President Mahinda
Rajapaksa in Nuwara Eliya and pledged their support to the Mahinda
Chintana programme.
Nandasena Weerasinghe and R.M.P.G. Panditha, both members of the
Walapane Pradeshiya Sabha met the President at the President’s House in
Nuwara-Eliya yesterday morning and communicated their desire to support
the President.
A staunch UNPer in Nuwara Eliya B.M.I. Jayantha Bandara was also
present.
They said it was the duty of all to support the President and the
Government which is dedicated to eradicate terrorism and build a country
where all could live in peace.
Jayalalithaa has adequate security: Karunanidhi
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi on Sunday said that his
government was providing more than the Home Ministry prescribed security
to AIADMK General Secretary Jayalalithaa.
Referring to the reported statement by Jayalalithaa and her partymen
that she wanted more security, following threats by the LTTE and recent
attack on her convoy at Pasumpon, he told reporters here that as against
prescribed 54 personnel for Z plus category, the Government was
providing 84 security guards to the former chief minister.
