Ranaviru Upahara Week begins
COLOMBO: The Ranaviru Upahara Week declared by the Government began
yesterday to pay tribute to Soldiers engaged in the military operations
to liberate the North.
The national flag will be hoisted at all Government buildings and
schools for a week from yesterday to celebrate the recapture of Pooneryn
by Security Forces.
Minister Maithripala Sirisena announced on Saturday that the
commemorative week would commence from Sunday. Religious celebrations
will be a major part of the celebrations and the Government has also
planned other propaganda work to invoke blessings of the people on the
Security Forces.
