Pahan Pooja
A Pahan Pooja will be held tonight opposite the Lake House building
with the participation of Associated Newspapers of Ceylon Limited
employees to mark President Mahinda Rajapaksa's birthday and completion
of three years in office.
Buddhist talk
Professor Arjuna de Zoysa will deliver a Public Buddhist talk in
English on. "Emptiness in Buddhism" at a meeting of the Servants of the
Buddha Society on Saturday 22nd November at 4.30 p.m. at Maitri Hall,
Lauries Road, Bambalapitiya.
Pichamal Pooja today
The SLFP All Ceylon Women's Organisation will conduct a Pichchamal
Pooja at the Kelaniya Rajamaha Vihara at 7 a.m. today in order to invoke
blessings on President Mahinda Rajapaksa, on the third anniversary of
his assuming duties as the President of Sri Lanka.
A pinkama will be held under the patronage of Youth Affairs Minister
Pavithra Vanniarachchi and Southern Province Governor Kumari Balasuriya,
Treasurer of the SLFP Women's Organisation.
Religious ceremony
The Muslim Ulama Party (a political party of Muslim clergy) will
conduct a religious ceremony to mark the third anniversary of the
assumption of office President Mahinda Rajapaksa as President at 11 a.m.
today at No. 63, Dematagoda Road, Maradana. Western Province Governor
Alavi Mowlana and Presidential Advisor A. H. M. Azwer will attend.
Scholarship awarding ceremony

A ceremony to award scholarships to 1,600 children of parents
employed in foreign countries will be held at 10 a.m. at the Udarata
Kala Sangam Hall, Kandy, presided by Minister of Foreign Employment
Promotion and Welfare Keheliya Rambukwella. Sri Lanka Foreign Employment
Bureau has made necessary arrangements to conduct this programme with
the completion of President Mahinda Rajapaksa's third year in office as
the Executive President of Sri Lanka.
Chevening scholarships
The British High Commission in collaboration with the British Council
will host a reception to launch the Chevening Alumni Network in Sri
Lanka and the Maldives. Chevening Scholarships are prestigious awards
available to international students for study in the United Kingdom.
The scholarship, which are named after chevening House in Kent, the
official country residence of he Foreign Secretary, are available in
more than 100 countries and around 1000 new Chevening Scholarships are
awarded globally each year. The reception will be held on November 26 at
120 Wijerama Mawatha Colombo 7 from 6.30 p.m. to 8.30 p.m. |
