SriLankan fuel surcharges slashed

National carrier Sri Lankan Airlines is to eliminate fuel surcharges from January 1 resulting in the airfares dropping to a greater extent.

According to an official from the airline, fuel surcharges have been removed from all short haul destinations. No surcharge would apply to Indian and the Middle Eastern flights, as well as Bangkok, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Hong Kong, Beijing, Male, and Karachi sectors. The airline, which also relaunched their flights to Rome from yesterday under the new management introduced a new Airbus A320s which landed at the end of the last month. New fuel saving aircraft are also on the way", an official said.

"The Fuel Surcharge on fares among Colombo and just five long-haul destinations - London, Paris, Frankfurt, Rome, Tokyo - has also been drastically reduced."
