fuel surcharges slashed
National carrier Sri Lankan Airlines is to eliminate fuel surcharges
from January 1 resulting in the airfares dropping to a greater extent.
According to an official from the airline, fuel surcharges have been
removed from all short haul destinations. No surcharge would apply to
Indian and the Middle Eastern flights, as well as Bangkok, Singapore,
Kuala Lumpur, Hong Kong, Beijing, Male, and Karachi sectors. The
airline, which also relaunched their flights to Rome from yesterday
under the new management introduced a new Airbus A320s which landed at
the end of the last month. New fuel saving aircraft are also on the
way", an official said.
"The Fuel Surcharge on fares among Colombo and just five long-haul
destinations - London, Paris, Frankfurt, Rome, Tokyo - has also been
drastically reduced." |
