Petrol, furnace oil prices reduced

Prime Minister Ratnasiri Wickramanayaka told Parliament yesterday that the Government as pledged by President Mahinda Rajapaksa in his Budget speech has further reduced the price of a litre of petrol by Rs. 20 and a litre of furnace oil by Rs. 10 with effect from yesterday.

Tamil Nadu cops find boats, launch arms hunt

The Tamil Nadu police have launched a search at Dhanushkodi and surrounding areas, after a tip-off that arms could have been brought aboard the five abandoned bullet riddled boats found along the coast in the last few days.
