BoI website records 8 million hits
Since the Internet became a popular medium of information slightly
more than a decade ago, it has emerged as a major promotional tool for
investment promotion agencies worldwide.
In April 2008, the BOI launched the “Invest Sri Lanka” initiative to
develop a new investor friendly environment.
When the new initiative was launched, the BOI website formally known
as www.boi.lk was renamed www.investsrilanka.com
A key consideration in renaming the site was to create an identity
for the website which would make access more certain. The new name is
much more investor friendly since it addresses the most vital question
of potential investors, which is “how do you invest in Sri Lanka?” It is
therefore not surprising there has been a sizeable increase in the
number of visits to the website.
An analysis of the period from January to November 2008 indicates
that the BoI website had achieved the 7,727,069 hits. This is an all
time record surpassing the target the BoI had set itself of 6 million
hits for 2008.
One of the most visited websites in Sri Lanka, www.investsrilanka.com
achieves an average of 27,207 hits on a daily basis.
This amounts to a monthly average of over 800,000 hits. Each day an
estimated average of 2,673 identified individuals visit the website.
These visits to the BoI Website take place mainly from 9.00 a.m to
5.00 p.m Sri Lanka time, on weekdays. Thursday is the busiest day of the
week for www.investsrilanka.com Hits are slightly less on the other days
of the week. |
